How does the AI tag scanner work?
Tap the camera icon on the home screen and point your camera at your vehicle's registration sticker (the small colored square on your license plate) or your registration card. TagSnap's AI will automatically detect and extract the expiry date, plate number, and state. You can review and edit the results before saving.
How do I add a vehicle manually?
Tap the + button on the home screen, then select "Enter Manually." Fill in your plate number, state, expiry date, vehicle nickname, and type. Tap Save to add it to your wallet.
When will I receive renewal reminders?
TagSnap schedules local notifications at 90, 60, 30, 14, 7, 3, and 1 day before your registration expires, plus a reminder on the expiry date when those dates are still in the future. Make sure notifications are enabled for TagSnap in your iPhone Settings → Notifications → TagSnap.
How do I renew my registration?
Open the vehicle detail screen and tap "Renew Now." This will open your state's official DMV renewal website directly in your browser. TagSnap supports direct DMV links for all 50 US states.
What's included in TagSnap Pro?
TagSnap Pro ($4.99/month or $29.99/year) includes unlimited vehicle tracking. The free plan supports 1 vehicle. All core features — AI scanning, reminders, and DMV links — are available on both plans.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Subscriptions are managed through Apple. To cancel: open the Settings app on your iPhone → tap your name → Subscriptions → TagSnap → Cancel Subscription. You'll retain Pro access until the end of your billing period.
Is my data private?
Your saved vehicle records are kept in the App's local storage on your device. A photo is sent to the server-side AI service only when you request a scan and is not intentionally retained by TagSnap after the result is returned. We do not sell your personal information. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
The AI scan didn't read my tag correctly. What should I do?
Make sure the sticker is well-lit and the camera is steady. Try taking the photo from directly in front of the plate. If the scan is incorrect, you can always edit the details manually after scanning. For best results, scan in daylight or bright indoor lighting.
